 Job Title:Unix System Administrator
 Company:ITSolutions, LLC
 Description: The Unix Systems Administrator will be responsible for the daily technical support and the administration of the production system environment.  This will include system backups, system monitoring, system installation, and application migrations to the production environment. The Unix System Administrator will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
  • Validate and test new system configurations based on Application Software or Operating System changes. 
  • Maintain technical documentation and production operational procedures.
  • Documentation & resolution of customer complaints or system related issues escalated to the appropriate support teams.
  • Operational support and administration of the production environment.
  • Conduct timely analysis, coordination, and resolution of production problems with guidance from engineering staff.
  • Coordinate directly with operations and development support teams on production issues.
  • Perform on-demand maintenance to diagnose, propose, and implement solutions to problems.
  • Provides back up maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting and diagnostics tasks including component and system troubleshooting services for application and system equipment.
  • Inform management of the status of any production issues.
  • Assure appropriate version control for production environment.
    Test new production technologies and perform pre-production testing in accordance with Operational and Quality guidelines.
  • Work closely with development staff to identify areas and methods to improve testing efficiency, expand coverage, and increase product reliability.
  • Perform support duties with third party vendors related to new technologies and/or methods.
  • Report the characteristics and issues relating to production technologies and methods.
  • Technological review of materials and evaluation of applications for upgrade will also be part of this role.
  • Perform and executes after hours production coverage in accordance with the on-call roster. 

 Qualifications  Experience:·        

  • 3 years experience with Unix technologies, including installation, clustering, and zone configuration ·        
  • 3 years experience with Unix software technology (Solaris) to include system administration, file interchange, shared network resources, internet access, and system backups. ·        
  • 3 years experience with computer programming languages: like Perl/C/C++/Java/VB and strong script knowledge.
